Multi-core and multi-threading performance (the multi-core myth?) | Scali’s OpenBlog™

This is very important to understand. Smartphones with four cores means very little when smartphone programs are single threaded. Programs must be multi-threaded to really feel a difference on a quad-core processor. A properly implimented TESLA architecture from NVIDIA with CUDA api would scare the serial processors to jump off a high building. Who can compete with that raw parallel processing ability? I’m waiting NVIDIA…Tegra 4 is a disappointment from the raw power I am looking for. Maybe Tegra 4 is “functional” and offers “battery” saving proformance, but who wants that? Home, car, office, extra batteries….I don’t need battery saving proformance. I want battery eating processing power that puts Samsung and Qualcom in their proper place far behind NVIDIA.
